This photograph features a stunning Sandhill Crane preforming the mating ritual for the female. I went on a 6 hour trip to see the Sandhill Crane Migration happening every late Feb-March. Thousands of cranes migrate to Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge every year, so I knew I had to go there. Once I was there, my mom and I woke up very early in the morning, and drove to the best hotspot of the Refuge. There were already hundreds of cranes there, but I only focused on one pair. This male was dancing for the female, trying to get her attention. He was dancing so beautifully, it reminded me of a ballerina. I knew I had to capture this incredible moment, so I quickly found the best composition with the warm golden light, and waited for him to dance. I shot lots of frames, but this shot is the one that I am really proud of.
